My yearly #The100DayProject venture following the other projects from this series — #100DaysofOutfitSketches in 2015, #100Daysof3WordCollages in 2017, #100DaysofMovingCollages in 2018 — led me to make another one with a topic I enjoy: K-pop.
I've always been fascinated with the details of a lot of K-pop groups' concepts for their new albums and comebacks, especially their outfits so I decided to highlight a few of my favorites and draw each of them for this project. Drawing bodies in proportion is not rly my strong suit, so I followed a simple skeleton sketch to pattern all of the outfits in this series.
A compilation of all the entries created for this project, completed in 2019. All original posts on Instagram @andilanuza and @_banandi.
Started off with a group that debuted in 2019 when I was making this — ITZY Ryujin from the Dalla Dalla MV. I shared each post on my Instagram account with a reference video or image to the outfit I drew, including the name of the idol as seen below. I decided to alternate between girl and boy idols, followed by BTS RM from the Persona MV released in the same year.

A lot of the entries here are inspired by music videos releases in 2019, including MAMAMOO Solar (gogobebe), TXT Taehyun (Crown), BLACKPINK Jisoo Lisa Rosé Jenny (Kill This Love), and SVT S.Coups Vernon (Home).

BTS also released Boy with Luv ft. Halsey in 2019 so it was inevitable for me to draw them early on in the project. I particularly liked V's and Jimin's outfits from the MV so I included them here.

Apart from K-pop MVs, I get particularly drawn to concept photos released during a comeback. This set from BTS Love Yourself : Answer (S Version) was striking to me so I told myself to just draw all of them for this project.

Expanding from boy groups, TWICE was also a group I listened to and enjoy. They released Fancy during this year and I couldn't help but be drawn to the outfits from both the MVs and their concept photos. Drawing patterns wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, but the details that aren't usually put together was a challenge. This set was fun to draw.

Drawing sets has been fun because most of the time, the idols' outfits always fit a theme and look great when seen side by side. TXT's Cat & Dog MV was a perfect opportunity to showcase all of their outfits so I drew all the members again. Even though some of the fits are simple, they look good together when seen side by side.

Apart from MVs and concept photos, I also liked drawing iconic outfits including Jungkook and RM's from this Baepsae Dance Practice video. Any ARMY would immediately recognize these from the outfits alone. I drew this for my ARMYversary last May 2019.

Following this, I looked at old music videos with outfits that I'd like to draw and stumbled upon BLACKPINK's As if It's Your Last and DDU-DU-DDU-DU. I also drew WayV's outfits from the Take Off MV they released in 2019.

Still alternating between sets of boy and girl idols, I drew Hwasa because I particularly liked this song when it was released during this time. Scanned photo from @archivehwasa.

As a K-pop fan, seeing idols from different groups come together for special projects like SM's Station X 0 was also fascinating to me. Wow Thing was stuck in my head for a while and seeing the fits from the MV made it a no-brainer for me to include them in this project.

NCT was a group I closely followed when I got into K-pop in 2017. They have evolved into different units and sub-groups but NCT127 and NCT U music were the ones I enjoyed the most so I included my favorites here. Not me drawing Taeyong for 3 consecutive posts though haha! Anyone can tell he was my bias from the group.

More NCT127 entries, including the iconic Cherry Bomb from 2017 here. This pattern on Johnny's pants that all the members also wore in the MV was fun to draw! I also included the concept photos of the other members that I particularly liked.

K-pop outfits also included fashion releases and I couldn't help but include these three from the Fendi 2019-2020 Fall/Winter Collection. The colors from the set complemented the photos they released as well.

June will always be BTS month for me since they celebrate their birthday with 2 weeks of content releases leading up to their debut day including family portraits. This one from 2019 was particularly special because they dressed up representing the outfits from each of their solo songs in previous albums, both group and solo album releases.

Apart from the special set above, they also released these Festa 2019 Family Portraits with each member representing an old BTS song. It really felt like they released these for me to draw them haha! Synchronicity at its finest. I truly enjoyed drawing these so I made individual collages to go with it as well to showcase the outfits I drew.

BTS Festa Family Portraits with fits representing old BTS songs also happened in 2017. I took the opportunity to continue the series by drawing all of them again with older songs this time. Of course I included a collage of snippets from the MVs and their fits again along with my drawings.

Apart from Korean album releases, groups also release Japanese albums every year. This year BTS released Lights as the title track for their Japanese album which included a music video. I particularly liked the colors of these outfits so I drew them here.

Idols also release solo albums to showcase their music outside the group. I didn't realize I drew Taeyong way too many times for this project, but here we are adding two more because these were exciting to draw even if it was quite tedious and detailed compared to everything else I've drawn so far.

Going back to group releases, I enjoy ITZY's concepts a lot so I took the time to draw them again for the remainder of the project. With the constant K-pop comebacks and album releases, it was fun planning out in advance which fits and idols to draw next. I gravitate a lot towards groups as seen below. I love how detailed and colorful they are and those are one of the criteria I have when picking which ones to draw.

Closing the series still with ITZY. I liked seeing outfits in a set so this was also fun to draw. From an initial view the fits look simple, but the details that go into it are still so interesting and I learn more about it as I draw them.

Ending the way I started the project — still with ITZY Ryujin, but a different outfit from Dalla Dalla. Matching the print on the shirt was a challenge but I really loved this song and this fit so I didn't mind doing the extra effort to replicate it as close as possible.

A quick recap of my favorites from the project! It's been a while since I did these and I'm only sharing it again now 6 years later. Maybe one day I'll pick this up again! A lot of detail and effort goes into each album comeback since it doesn't focus on just the music but the overall concept and fits that go into it.

A bonus from 2021 when Stray Kids released Thunderous! This was one of my favorite outfits from the MV and it fit Hyunjin so well I wanted to draw it immediately even if my #100DaysofKpopOutfitSketches series was already over haha!
